BACKSHOP TOUR

What could be more special and spectacular than a private guided tour of our heritage train and steam engine?  You will walk through the train and experience her history, visit the unique cafe lounge and explore our restored caboose. Then we will make our way to our sparkling gem, the steam locomotive 2141 aka The Spirit of Kamloops.

As ours is a working engine, she may be undergoing weekly maintenance and finishing touches.  All the more interesting, as you may meet our Engineer or dedicated maintenance crew.  Climb up into the cab, sit in the Engineer's seat, perhaps blow the whistle!

Bring your camera and take as many photos as you want. Pose in front of this one-of-a-kind 1912 steam engine while we snap your keepsake photos.  This is the Ultimate Railfan Photo Op!

COST:  $10 per person; $25 per family (includes two parents or grandparents with their children 17 & under) Cash only, gst included.  Meeting place is at the compound entrance, at the back of the Pioneer Park parking lot, under the historic wooden Red Bridge. PLEASE wait at the gate for your guide.

DRESS CODE:  You will be in the midst of an industrial work site, so dress accordingly.  Long pants preferred. Children must be kept nearby at all times, and your party must stay together with the tour guide.

*Absolutely NO flip flops, open-toed sandals or high heels.

A group from England thoroughly enjoying this unique experience!

A recent guest had this to say about The Ultimate Railfan Photo Op, following a Rocky Mountaineer excursion:  "We were lucky enough to be invited to take the tour of the preserved trains of the (Kamloops Heritage Railway)...the tour of the old cars and engine was a HIGHLIGHT of the trip.  To NOT include this is a mistake.  I would bet a bundle that many many train buffs...would love the opportunity to see these coaches and to listen to the (tour guide) who has such passion for the old rails.  While I am not a train buff, I loved going thru (sic) the old cars, hearing their story, and totally appreciated the work and love that went into preserving them."
