VOLUNTEERING

Volunteering is a huge part of Kamloops Heritage Railway.  Our 1912 steam locomotive was restored through thousands of hours of sweat equity by our many skilled volunteers.  We continue today to be volunteer-driven and have the following positions to fill at this time:

Entertainers: We need a variety of entertainment for our railtours: musicians, actors, singers, dancers.  Sometimes we just need someone in a costume who doesn't have to say a thing!

Onboard Attendants:  We require a lot of eyes and ears to keep our passengers safe!  Oh, and smiles to keep them happy!  This position requires a level of maturity, an orientation toward safety, an enjoyment of people.  You must be able to remain calm under pressure and follow directions from the Train Manager.

Onboard Attendants are required to undergo a criminal record check, which is free to volunteers.  Training is supplied, and volunteers are asked to work at least one shift per week throughout the summer, and three of six Ghost Trains and Spirit of Christmas trains.  Minimum age is 18 unless otherwise agreed upon.

Office Help:  More help is always appreciated!  The Manager is out in the community much of the time and we would like to be able to have the Ticket Office open so passersby can get information or buy a souvenir or ticket. Maturity, independence and experience with cash and card procedures are required.

Committees:  Do you have a special skill to share through fundraising, decorating, recruiting, skilled trade, sewing or ...? Please consider joining one of our committees!
