Be a part of History by Volunteering with KHR

Volunteering is a huge part of Kamloops Heritage Railway. Our 1912 steam locomotive was restored through thousands of hours of sweat equity by our many skilled volunteers. We continue today to be volunteer-driven and have the following positions to fill at this time.

You do not need to be a member to be a volunteer.

Kamloops Heritage Railway is seeking Educators for our new Education Program. Our Education Program focuses on grades 2-7 and has been developed in correspondence with current educators in SD73 and is designed to use the railway and railway history to enhance the objectives of the BC curriculum. We have converted a decommissioned passenger coach into a historic railcar classroom to host our Education Program.

Historic Park Tour Guides

We need volunteer Tour Guides for tours in our heritage park Facility by Pioneer Park.

The Tours offer an up close and personal look at our historic rolling stock, static displays, and the steam locomotive 2141.

Guides will be providing commentary to tour guests and answer questions. This role requires an enjoyment of people and being comfortable in public speaking.

Ticket Office

More help is always appreciated! The Manager is out in the community much of the time and we would like to be able to have the Ticket Office open so passersby can get information or buy a souvenir or ticket. Maturity, independence and experience with cash and card procedures are required.

Backshop & Train Crew

We rely on our team of shop volunteers to help restore and maintain our steam locomotive, the 2141, and other rolling stock and to maintain the grounds

We need volunteers in our workshop to help with restorations, repairs, and building displays. This is perfect for anyone who is mechanically inclined or just anyone who likes to work with their hands.
